Roman Soldier Costume

Since the last SALT Easter performance, I’ve long been wanted to put this up, but it was not as easy as I thought, trying to put my work into words and instructions. But finally it’s here. I hope it’s not too late for summer programs.

I got my idea from this page Legio XX – The Twentieth Legion. This is a wonderful website with lots more details and pictures of Roman costumes and makes. They are real professionals, making armours and weapons using metalwork. They also have lots of information on Roman culture, even drills for the soldiers! I really enjoy this website a lot.

For the crafts on this page, I used cereal boxes, thick card boards, wires, gold and silver paints and lots of masking tapes. I’ve inserted some pictures from Legio XX website for explaination sake. :P Do visit the Legio XX website, I feel it adds value to teaching about crafts and Roman culture.
