My Thoughts On Homeschooling
Hi!
Welcome to my page on education. No, I am no “Dr. B. Spock”.
I do not hold a degree on education, neither in early childhood. I do not have big abbreviations behind my academic qualifications, like M.B.B.S., Hons etc. Some of you are like me, I am a M.U.M.

The Chan Family – taken during Chinese New Year 2006 in my brother Ammiel’s house. John broke the skin of his nose while he played and fell in a department store.
Yep, I am just a mother of 2 wonderful little boys in a Christian family from Singapore, homeschooling in Shanghai – heading a group of toddlers and administrator to another older group. I teach used to teach History there, until the group opted for Art as more kids needed help in that area. I love teaching History. I was a Science student – I can do Science but not teach them. It’s kind of weird. Right now, I’m heavily involved in the administration of the groups.
Reasons for homeschooling vary with people. I have mine as well. Homeschooling has always been a stressful point between my husband and his company and clients, especially when he is a teacher working under the tradition school system. Many people feel that a teacher’s kid should not be homeschooled which I feel that it’s a rather narrow view – it’s like telling me if I work in Chinese restaurant I cannot eat McDonalds.
Here are some of my thoughts and sharing on homeschooling:
1. Homeschooling – Something New?
2. Homeschool Vs Traditional School
3. Teaching The Baby Within
4. Teaching Kids From Age 0
5. Teaching Kids Age 3 and Below
6. Teaching The Pre-schooler
I don’t care if anyone feels that I am not qualified to write anything that tells people how to teach on this page. This is just a page that I hope to share some thoughts on education, especially to young parents and parents-to-be, and homeschool parents like I. Things that work for me may not work for you. Bear in mind that every child is different. Many times, you have to play by ear and look out for teachable moments.
